Algeria
sovereignAfrica · mixed
The Algerian band along the Tell absorbed Algiers and Oran on the standard pattern, but the circuit's Algerian stop is the interior it made central: the M'zab—five walled Ibadi towns of the Saharan gorge, Ghardaïa at their head, built nine centuries ago for austerity, water discipline, communal deliberation, and distance from every coast. The previous era studied the pentapolis as a curiosity; the present one studies it as a syllabus. Mozabite water law circulates in pattern-books beside Iranian qanat manuals; Mozabite commercial networks run the Algerian band's zone-line trade. A Ghardaïa notable's summary captures the inversion: we did not move. The centre did.
Angola
sovereignAfrica · mixed
Angola appears in continental reporting chiefly as a voided petro-state: its offshore hydrocarbons lie in the ban zone alongside the Niger Delta and the Gulf's, abolishing the fiscal foundation of the previous era. The 2035 supplements do not profile Angola as a standing polity; Namibe is named among the thirteen towns struck on 12 December 2029.
Argentina
sovereignAmericas · interior
Buenos Aires joined the staggered winding-down of thalassocratic capitals during the 2030–34 relocation of billions. Argentina's interior received coastal displacement as latifundia were broken alongside Brazil's under Interior Land Reforms. Puerto Deseado suffered a restrained enforcement tsunami in March 2030 among thirteen towns chosen to demonstrate proportionality. Evidence reaches the UCC only by shortwave through Cusco.
Armenia
sovereignAsia · mixed
Armenians appear in band census and Polosa reporting as one ethnicity among several in the Russian slow-zone reaches, not as a separately studied sovereign. The 2061 circuit treats the Pontic section's mixed funeral koine and the Polosa's *polosnik* identity; no dedicated Armenian state file exists in the published assessments.
Australia
sovereignOceania · mixed
Oceania reporting is grade C or D at best. An interior administration communicates intermittently by shortwave; Esperance suffered March 2030's restrained tsunami demonstration. Aboriginal custodial idioms diffused via pattern-book trade and Trabzon correspondence with Australian band sections by 2061. The Working Group states bluntly: less is known of Oceania now than the nineteenth century knew.
Austria
sovereignEurope · interior
Austria is named among the Danubian Concordat's core members in the 2035 Continental Assessment — an interior riverine partner to Germany (at Erfurt), Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary, with Slovenia and rump Croatia in association. The Panel treats the Concordat as Europe's functioning administrative core; Austria itself receives no dedicated state study in the published UCC corpus.
Bahrain
sovereignMiddle East · spared
Bahrain is the circuit's brightest small light among the voided Gulf littoral: an island wholly subsumed and therefore Spared—never evacuated, wholly unplugged—where pearling dhows have returned to the banks after a century's absence and the pre-oil economy resumed as if the oil age were the parenthesis. Census returns rank island identity first with a unanimity matched only in Ireland and the Aegean. The Gulf's standing epithet in band Arabic summarizes the geometry's caprice in three words: al-mustathnāt, the exempted one. While towers and sovereign funds from Kuwait to the Trucial coast died with the system that priced them, Bahrain's populations remained on the island under full regime, stripped of electricity but not of place.
Baltic and Hanseatic section
band sectionEurope · band
The southern Baltic band—the German, Polish, and Baltic coasts' inland tier—is Europe's guild country par excellence: salvage confraternities of drowned Lübeck, Gdańsk, and Riga conduct day-rotas into brick-Gothic Verge cities; amber-foraging companies revive the continent's oldest trade route under day-law; university towns sustain a letterpress economy. Its distinguishing glory is linguistic: the Livonian revival, thirty thousand learners strong by 2045 on a broadcast in a nearly dead tongue, made Courland the European band's symbol of the Canon's strange mercy, summer song-festivals drawing lateral pilgrims from every Baltic section. The Kaliningrad question—a Polosa-type Russian band section embedded in the Baltic hem—is managed by not being raised; Congress seats its delegation under a section name rather than a state name.
Bangladesh
sovereignAsia · mixed
The drowned delta populations of former Bangladesh and West Bengal—some two hundred million combined—constitute the largest single unabsorbed human mass on earth, distributed across camps, Indian Levies, slow-zone resettlement, and informal migration along the Gangetic corridor. By 2061 the Bengal band holds above one hundred million with Dhaka lamplit within it. The Panel designates Bengal absorption the continent's first-order humanitarian problem for the decade.
Barzakhiyya
institutionEurasia · band
The Barzakhiyya is a juridical school formed in Kazan and the Polosa around Shaykh Ildus Qariev's reading of barzakh, the interval between states. It treats suspensions such as the Long Ihram not only as privations but as worship with completable duties and dignity. Its instrumental meliorism names the Hunger dead while recognizing ended wars and restored goods, and its jurisprudence helped make the Daylight Hajj possible. Saudi custodial and other protestant opponents object that accommodation risks converting an imposed loss into vocation. The school's later InterTꞐRic communion deepens that dispute without erasing internal jurisdictional differences or making all Muslim acceptance unanimous.
Basque Country
band sectionEurope · band
The Basque section is organized around a voice: Euskara stands in the Broadcast Canon, and the isolate's cosmic acknowledgment— a language with no relatives, addressed by whatever addressed everyone—has made the Basque band Europe's densest node of the language-revival economy. Bertsolari improvisers are the Atlantic arc's most exported performers; zone-line towns above drowned Bilbao estuaries run Europe's most disciplined salvage rotas. Adjacent Galicia shares the regime but almost nothing else; the two sections intermarry, trade, and dispute precedence on the same coast road, proving that the shared slow-zone discipline leaves meaning entirely local. Commission couriers seated in both sections yield grade A/B evidence.
Bengal
band sectionAsia · band
The delta's geometry was the era's demographic epicentre: the ban took the seaward face and the Sundarbans, and the band—Dhaka lamplit within it—holds above one hundred million, the largest single band society on earth and proof that the regime does not require smallness. Bengal's answer was written by geography: permitted rivers are the country, and nouka fleets carry grain, jute, post, weddings, and dead. The jute economy returned at scale; bhatiali boat-songs became band lingua-franca music from the Brahmaputra to the Coromandel. Salvage of Kolkata—College Street carried volume by volume in a twenty-ninth-year walking library—is band civilization's largest single act of custody. Elder women of the char settlements sit in boat-guild councils by right no statute granted.
Bolivia
sovereignAmericas · interior
Bolivia appears chiefly within an Andean-Paraguayan-Bolivian interior bloc whose ascent mirrors the rise of Afro-Eurasia's landlocked states. Geography that once meant marginality now confers advantage in a world without sea power, and La Paz co-hosts Continental Concord preparation and grain-and-gold settlement discussions. Evidence remains grade C or D, based on shortwave relay and Compact statements rather than independent audit. Those same limits counsel restraint: Bolivia has not declared formal meliorism or called the Mandates just. Its official register emphasizes consequences, stewardship, and continental obligation, avoiding triumph over displaced coastal and protestant powers even where the country's historic landlocked grievance has lost geopolitical force.
Brazil
sovereignAmericas · mixed
Brazil's interior consolidation ranks among the hemisphere's largest, though it is known to the UCC only through Cordillera relay at grade C or D. Latifundia broke under the era's land-reform imperative, while Compact statements report violence serious enough to place districts in the confidential schedule. Camps of unprecedented scale rose during the Great Inland Migration, and Status Inversion made interior hosts holders of land, food, and standing over arriving coastal elites. Displaced coastal communities include a protestant constituency, but the evidence does not establish national doctrine or governmental consensus. Interior vindication, liberation-theological Jubilee currents, and coastal non-consent remain heterogeneous and incompletely observed.
Breton section
band sectionEurope · band
The Breton section is the devotional heartland of France's Atlantic hem, organized by pardons, parish processional calendars, sail-post links, and the Stellamarist current. Lamplit parish authority has renewed Brittany's old argument with Paris, while France (at Lyon) retains legal administration and its republican commemorative posture. The section is not uniformly meliorist: pilgrimage, grief, civic non-consent, and local autonomy overlap without becoming one doctrine. Its contrast with France's secular Mediterranean hem and with state ceremonial protestantism makes Brittany a principal example of a band current that cannot be inferred from the government claiming it.
Bulgarian and Dobrujan section
band sectionEurope · band
Along the Black Sea's western rim, Bulgarian and Dobrujan band sections hinge on the Danube — permitted water piercing the hem and dying at the forbidden delta, making Galați and Brăila the ports where Europe's river fleet meets band couriers. The 2061 assessment records this as part of the sea-of-sections circuit, not as a national profile.
Cadastral Continuity Corps
institutionEurope · scattered
The Water-Board Congresses in Dispersal and the Cadastral Continuity Compact (2052) form the scattered Dutch world's strongest transnational custodial system (grade A/B). They duplicate deeds, hydraulic models, municipal records, and professional knowledge under the proposition that usefulness elsewhere is not consent at home. The "capital" remains wherever the congress last met.
Canada
sovereignAmericas · mixed
Canada is the least wounded major state in the western hemisphere because much of its population stood on the permitted Great Lakes and upper St. Lawrence. Toronto remains electrified and Ottawa the unmoved federal seat; Montreal is a lamplit slow-zone metropolis, while Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island were Spared. Nine to twelve million displaced people were absorbed at the hemisphere's best reported rates. Later public life retains a cautious protestant constituency among coastal losses and associated diasporas, but survivor's calm, accommodation, and the ethics of having been lucky remain equally visible. Neither geography nor grief warrants classifying Canada as a nationally protestant polity.
Catholic anti-ordination network
institutionGlobal · mixed
After the Esztergom Concord of 2082, Catholic accession sharpened protestant and meliorist division inside Catholic populations. The 2089 UCC packet records anti-ordination argument and administrative guidance; Italian campanilismo and Bolzano-linked networks preserve Catholic refusal of InterTꞐRic ordination language without reducing to a single institution. The published corpus names networks and submissions, not a unified headquarters.
Chad
sovereignAfrica · interior
Chad is named among the Sahelian interior states — with Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso — whose weight rises as the projected Addis–Ndjamena–Bamako rail spine redrew continental geography after coastal inversion. The 2035 Assessment notes the spine's security contest with the Sahelian militant current; Chad has no dedicated state study.
China (at Xi'an)
sovereignAsia · mixed
China evacuated roughly six hundred million people from the eastern seaboard while retaining an interior industrial crescent governed from Xi'an; Beijing remains slow-zoned. Permitted rivers, lake provinces, the Carp Century, and the Lanzhou–Urumqi–Tashkent rail rebuild made China the land world's eastern superpower. State rhetoric frames this performance as an Ecological Mandate—a doctrine of party legitimacy, not simple adoption of transreligious meliorism. Coastal protestant dissent and unlicensed band interpretations persist in Jiangnan storytellers' halls and Lingnan courier culture, where oral forms travel beyond ready audit. The Grand Canal remains the material thread between publics. Official success, ecological recovery, and private judgment therefore do not produce one national consensus.
Continental Concord
supranationalGlobal · interior
The Continental Concord is the era's emerging premier economic-diplomatic bloc, being prepared in 2035 by a Preparatory Commission seated at Addis Ababa and La Paz by shortwave. Working papers discuss a proposed Afro-Eurasian settlement unit—the tal—built on grain-and-gold clearing for rail trade after reserve currencies died with drowned financial systems. Founding participants include risen interior powers: Ethiopia, Uganda, Bolivia, Paraguay, and others positioned by landlocked advantage. The Concord addresses fissile-conversion frameworks for inert arsenals, African gold's first foundational monetary seat, and the interior's sole external economy. By 2061 a Continental Concord Secretariat at La Paz receives UCC distribution alongside the Danubian Concordat and Ibero-Interior Compact, indicating institutional persistence beyond the preparatory phase.
Cordillera band (la Franja Lenta)
band sectionAmericas · band
La Franja Lenta, also a Faixa in Portuguese contexts, is the Cordillera Compact's name for its inhabited slow-zone band. Compact relays describe tranquil administrative categories, but correspondence with Trabzon reveals guilds, courier law, a hem-emblem called la orilla, and a meliorist landscape shaped by indigenous prophetic revival and liberation-theological Jubilee currents. The Commission assesses these bands as following the Afro-Eurasian lateral pattern at some distance. Official Compact broadcasts nevertheless remain silent about Franja congresses disclosed by their own cultural programming. Population-level meliorism therefore does not amount to Compact doctrine, and official silence should not be mistaken for either endorsement or suppression.
Cordillera Compact
supranationalAmericas · interior
The Cordillera Compact is the Americas' counterpart to the United Continental Council, seated at Cusco and linked to Addis Ababa by the Tashkent shortwave protocols. In 2035 its secretariat corresponded with the UCC on protocol, archives, and science with a regularity that itself evidenced Andean institutional health. The Compact relays consolidated statements about North American recovery at Kansas City, Mexican and Brazilian interior consolidation, the Denver Archive, and an ascending Andean-Paraguayan-Bolivian bloc. Its Quechua-language broadcasting service is monitored across three continents as the western hemisphere's voice in the eastern ear. By 2061 Compact relays remain the main grade-C channel for extra-continental band intelligence, though the Commission treats official traffic as curated and incomplete.
Croatia (at Osijek)
sovereignEurope · mixed
Croatia's functioning technological state—electric Croatia—centres on Osijek and eastern Slavonia, with national ministries, electronic registries, factories, rail command, and diplomacy. Rump Croatia associated with the Danubian Concordat in 2035; Balkan returns were courier-consolidated grade B amid Europe's camp crisis. The republic legally contains Zagreb Country, an autonomous slow-zone commonwealth of roughly 880,000 governed by county tables, grain politics, and mechanical civilization; Osijek holds sovereignty in law while Zagreb possesses government in experience. The Osijek Articles of 2048 recognized the arrangement without resolving whether Croatia possesses one political normality or two. The state faces the Danube and continental interior; Zagreb Country custodies roads to the evacuated Adriatic west.
Czechia
sovereignEurope · interior
Czechia is listed among the Danubian Concordat's core interior members in the 2035 Continental Assessment. The Panel credits the bloc with order, rolling stock, seed, and law exports, and with the continent's most developed Clearance Committee system; Czechia receives no separate state study in the published corpus.
Danubian Concordat
supranationalEurope · interior
Europe's functioning core after Union collapse: Germany (at Erfurt), Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, with Slovenia and rump Croatia in association—an interior riverine rail-and-grain bloc whose axis is the Danube and de facto second capital Esztergom. Weight is administrative rather than martial; no formation above constabulary scale since 2033, irreversible after Ferghana. Principal exports are order, rolling stock, seed, and law. The Clearance Committee system—Bremerhaven-risk review of governmental acts—is the emerging European standard. Grain-denominated clearing arrangements anchor continental money; inland reactor restarts proceed under Concordat safety authority. Camp populations fell 31% from 2033 peak where Alföld and eastern Länder smallholding conversions succeeded. Secretariat at Vienna; distribution lists include Continental Concord and band assessments by 2054.
Denver Coastal Title Archive
institutionAmericas · interior
The Denver Coastal Title Archive is independently attested in fragmentary North American reporting (grade C/D) as a custodial institution preserving coastal claims and records after Kansas City reorganization. The 2071 counterfield assessment lists it beside coastal representation caucuses and aerospace preservation institutes; no national audit confirms its full scope.
Dinaric section
band sectionEurope · band
Across the Adriatic from Italy's frictional hem, the Dinaric section presents Status Inversion at its starkest. Karst highlanders—the poor relations of the Yugoslav riviera for a century—are now hosts and instructors to descendants of the drowned coast. Klapa singing that once serenaded tourists is sung at dusk toward empty Dalmatia in a repertoire the section calls, without embarrassment, songs for the houses. The Italian band remains Europe's most state-frictional, camps hardening beside prospering band communities; confraternity processions integrate where registries failed. Grade B/C evidence; confidential schedule exposure noted. Balkan brass lineages from band pattern-books later surface as far as the Gulf of Guinea processions, testimony to the section's cultural export along courier roads.
Egypt
sovereignAfrica · mixed
The Egyptian Catastrophe—fifty-five to sixty million relocated or moving up the Nile—remains the continent's gravest geopolitical wound. Cairo was never evacuated, only unplugged; it became the band's greatest lamplit metropolis, sustained by Nile water, Fayyum grain, oil-lamp, and al-Azhar's resumed teaching, while feluccas stop where the permitted river enters the forbidden delta. Delta loss supports a dignified, generally non-restorationist protestantism that refuses to translate endurance, river reconstruction, or ecological recovery into consent and resists interior romanticism about quiet Cairo. Second-generation Exodus literature also speaks of settled grief, and Barzakhiyya sobriety recruits more strongly than Jubilee or Nineveh currents. Neither grief nor prestige alone defines doctrine.
Ethiopia
sovereignAfrica · interior
Addis Ababa is the diplomatic capital of the Afro-Eurasian interior: it seats the United Continental Council, hosts a Continental Archive, and anchors the trans-African spine survey. With negligible displacement, the capital doubled under Council and pilgrim traffic; the great dam is the region's largest permitted power asset, and output rests on hosting, hydropower, teff, and overland coffee. Ethiopia's rise and its place as homeland of the Roman pontiff are handled with deliberate restraint. The government does not call the Mandates just or declare formal meliorism, preferring stewardship and recognition of consequences in deference to the displaced and to diminished powers whose capacities may return.
European Union (defunct)
defunctEurope · mixed
The Union dissolved in law at Vienna after Brussels fell inside the slow zone and member governments scattered to relocation capitals. A construction built to manage maritime-commercial interdependence could not survive the removal of the maritime and commercial systems that were its object. Three unequal successors replaced it: the Danubian Concordat, the Ibero-Interior Compact, and the Nordic Administrative Remnant. Europe suffered the most complete institutional demolition because it had been the most maritime and interlocked. In later Atlanticist successor politics, the Union's institutional death became a protestant symbol of imposed dispossession and non-consent, though neither that symbolism nor nostalgia restored a common European doctrine.
Finland
sovereignEurope · interior
Finland shares the Nordic Administrative Remnant's interior Scandinavian shield settlement, contributing to a bloc whose hydropower surplus and northern rail connection to Russian homestead territories exceed its demographic weight. The 2035 Assessment records impressive calm in Nordic governance amid continental institutional demolition. By 2061 the Finnish interior, like Sweden's, is electrified and grain-rich, paired with Norway's whole-cloth band in Europe's least frictional zone-line relationship—attributed on both sides to long practice at neighbouring across the cold. The Remnant formally dissolved offensive-capable formations after Ferghana. Finland participates in the continent's rail-and-grain recovery and the proposed Afro-Eurasian settlement-unit negotiations, European external trade now overland exclusively through Africa and Asia.
Flemish band-remnant
band sectionEurope · band
The Flemish band-remnant along the Scheldt margins adheres in census returns more strongly to the scattered Dutch commonwealth than to successor administrations. Its lateral affiliation is sustained by Dutch-language courier networks, water engineers, cadastral records, and a custodial protestant insistence that useful adaptation elsewhere does not constitute consent to lost home. The remnant is neither a restored Netherlands nor a homogeneous ideological bloc; it is a border-crossing band society whose records and working ties outlasted the state boundary that once organized them.
France (at Lyon)
sovereignEurope · mixed
France (at Lyon) is the largest European state outside the Danubian Concordat. Paris remains a lamplit cultural capital while Lyon governs inland after twenty-four to twenty-seven million coastal displacements. State commemorations, threshold rites, and refusal of language implying permanent alienation form a ceremonial republican protestantism; the gardes du seuil administer the line with studied legal caution. Promethean revanchism is the visible radical edge, not the mainstream. The Breton devotional hem, dense with pardons and Stellamarism, and the more secular Mediterranean band sustain different meliorist and local currents. France's two hems, displaced elites, and viable interior therefore prevent a single national mood from exhausting its doctrine.
Galicia
band sectionEurope · band
Galicia's band inverts Europe's oldest walking infrastructure: the Camino, which for a millennium carried pilgrims to Compostela, now ends at zone-line sanctuaries—Santiago lies deep in the ban, entered on great feasts by mounted and wheeled confraternities whose unpowered riding rotas return by dusk, the botafumeiro swung once a year to an empty square and a full road. The bicycle is the era's beast of pilgrimage. Adjacent to the Basque section on the Iberian Atlantic corner, Galicia shares a regime but not a meaning—the shared condition standardizes the day and leaves interpretation entirely local. Salvage, letterpress, and confraternity processions organize band society; intermarriage and trade run the coast road with Basque neighbours.
Gardes du seuil
institutionEurope · mixed
The gardes du seuil are France's dedicated threshold corps, the only specialized zone-line administration maintained by a major European state. Bremerhaven-cautious and famous for never signing anything, they administer relations between France (at Lyon), its two bands, day-pilgrimage routes, and the prohibited domains. Their public role also carries France's ceremonial republican protestantism: practical compliance is joined to refusal of language implying permanent alienation. Congress records call their relations with the band merely correct, reflecting an institution that is neither a Promethean club nor a band authority.
Georgia

Georgians appear in the Pontic section's mixed ethnography — alongside Turkish, Laz, Hemshin, Pontic Greek, and Armenian band-dwellers — and in references to the Georgian band's Catholics receiving Cherubic postils before Vienna. Germany (at Erfurt)

Federal government at Erfurt anchors the Danubian Concordat as its constitutional inventor and Bremerhaven-risk clearance model. Hamburg and the northern littoral lie in the ban zone; Berlin and the Rhine-Ruhr stand slow-zoned or draining eastward. The Main–Danube canal has become the continent's aorta. Thirteen to fifteen million displaced; Concordat land reform reduced camp populations sharply. Composite output leads Europe on rolling stock, machine tools, and river carriage.

Organized by the ban-zone line and permitted Lake Volta—the largest freshwater reservoir, provisioning central Sahel via northern relays. Two-capital condition: Tamale holds ministries; Kumasi at the slow-zone margin holds the nation—the Golden Stool's city resumed centrality. 4.5–5.5 million displaced absorbed regionally. Composite at or above 2029 on lake protein, cocoa, and slow-zone gold mined by hand. Coastal forts Elmina and Cape Coast day-visited; pattern books export Selvage technology from districts the previous era did not think to teach.
Greece
sovereignEurope · mixed
Greece demonstrates every type in the Commission's typology simultaneously: an electrified Thessalian and Macedonian rump, a band thick with relocated populations, and a Spared Aegean thread-fleet civilization across the Cyclades, Dodecanese, and coastal Crete. Diaspora and imperial-memory circles sustain a strong protestant account of dispossession and refused permanence; Spared-island practice more often accommodates the regime as the condition of continuing Aegean life, without making gratitude state doctrine. Monastic geography encodes the dispute: emptied Athos and its dispersed lineages seed the meliorist New Thebaid, while interior Meteora receives three publics' pilgrims. Island, band, rump, and diaspora judgments remain distinct.
Gulf of Guinea
band sectionAfrica · band
The Guinea coast road is the lateral identity's demographic heavyweight and institutional pioneer. Elder-women's councils, rooted in the Grandmothers' Evacuation, serve as courts, marriage brokers, credit registries, and band diplomats; Yoruba, Akan, Ewe, Ijaw, and Fon affiliations remain vivid beneath the Chain of Mothers. Nineveh churches, the Olokun Concord, and other currents give the population a strong meliorist presence while retaining named grief and day-custody of Ouidah's shrines. That religious geography should not be assigned to the governments at Abuja or Accra: neither has declared official meliorism, and national, band, and doctrinal authority remain distinct across the coast road.
Gulf states
regionalMiddle East · scattered
The Gulf littoral from Kuwait to the Trucial coast underwent the era's most complete urban reversal: ports, towers, petroleum systems, and sovereign-fund wealth were voided, while populations dispersed toward Najd, the Hejaz band, and Fertile Crescent reception belts. Exile administrations preserve dynastic and urban claims in a de facto protestant register, but worker loss, commercial loss, and ruling-house memory are not interchangeable, and no common Gulf doctrine exists. Bahrain is the decisive exception: wholly subsumed and Spared, it remained inhabited, returned to pearling and sail, and treats island continuity rather than exile as its first fact. Saudi custodial theology and the later Daylight Hajj dispute overlap this regional field without defining it.
Gulf Tables of Custody
institutionMiddle East · scattered
Consolidated at Riyadh in 2053, the Tables hold sanctuary obligations, waqf, voided city and commercial claims, migrant-worker registries, and remittance routes in one disputed series (grade B). Dynastic, municipal, worker, and Hejazi custodial protestantisms cooperate against legitimation and divide over restitution; Bahrain's Spared status remains an explicit exception to every generalization.
Holy See (at Esztergom)
institutionEurope · interior
The Apostolic See transferred to Esztergom under Ecce Tabernaculum and the Lex Strigoniensis, while the Office of the Recovery conducts daylight salvage of Rome's patrimony. Athanasian theology frames exile as pilgrimage and abstention as fidelity; Cherubic meliorist currents later grew around Esztergom. Catholic entry into InterTꞐRic communion in 2082 did not settle individual conviction. Reception divided between accommodation and protestant Catholics in the Mandate-contextualization sense, a category distinct from Lutheran, Reformed, and Anglican confessional identity. Because that ambiguity sharpened after accession, ordinary usage increasingly prefers specific Christian denominational labels. Institutional communion, personal belief, and the Church's continuing custody of its lost Roman inheritance remain analytically separate.
Hungary
sovereignEurope · interior
Wholly interior and barely struck, Hungary hosts the Apostolic See at Esztergom under Lex Strigoniensis and anchors the Danubian Concordat as granary and crossroads. Negligible native displacement contrasts with 1.9–2.4 million received, while permitted Lake Balaton serves as the continent's substitute littoral. Output contracted comparatively little, concentrated in grain, carp, rail components, and pilgrimage. Catholic practice revived steeply and official theology defends the Athanasian pontificate as a national interest. Yet Budapest does not declare the Mandates just or adopt formal meliorism; like other advantaged interiors, it prefers custodial obligation and acceptance of limits, preserving restraint toward displaced and protestant powers.
Ibero-Interior Compact
supranationalEurope · mixed
Organized around the Meseta from Valladolid, the Compact consolidated Iberian withdrawal competently but presides over a poorer resource base and Europe's most severe internal displacement ratio after Italy's; politics are dominated by absorption and water. Spain withdrew into its interior; Portugal—no point far from the Atlantic—became a wholly pre-electric sovereign state within the slow zone, administered under Compact association from Guarda. By 2061 Portugal lives entire territory under the regime, its fado repertoire meeting saudade's final object; Galicia and Basque band sections operate on the Atlantic corner. Composite Iberian geometry made separate Spanish and Portuguese studies impossible at assessment resolution. Secretariat at Valladolid remains on UCC distribution lists through 2061.
India

India carried out hard, uneven, and broadly effective interior consolidation after civilizational losses in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and the Gangetic delta's seaward reaches. The Union holds through land-for-service settlements in which inland states exchange title against Levies terms, creating the era's largest organized workforce and social-mobility engine. Delta representation remains a live wound, and displaced coastal communities sustain protestant grief and non-consent. Elsewhere, the kala pani revival, Ṛta-vāda, and later InterTꞐRic currents offer melior-leaning readings of restraint and restored sacred order. Varanasi inherits drowned coasts' prestige. These currents cross regions and institutions without producing one Indian doctrine.
Indonesia
sovereignAsia · mixed
Among archipelagic states, Indonesia suffered proportionally after Japan alone and split along the clemency line into the era's most consequential double nation. Java—largely Spared, unplugged, and above a hundred million—became the band world's senior lamplit culture, while the state sits in electrified Borneo, where the inland project expanded into earth's largest new-city scheme. Javanese and Sumatran coastal populations arrived faster than order or governance could follow, and the Java Sea boundary is crossed only by thread-sail and courier. Spared accommodation, interior state-building, and displaced coastal protestant constituencies therefore coexist; neither Java's adaptation nor Borneo's advantage defines a unanimous Indonesian doctrine.
InterTꞐRism

InterTꞐRism began with Kepe at Shupashkar in June 2038 and became an ecumenical overlay organized around humanity's estate between prohibited waters, sky, and outer space. It is meliorist in treating obedience as vocation or ordination, but it is not reducible to the wider meliorist family: Carriers, receiving houses, pilgrimage routes, the Vučah, and communing religious bodies give it a distinct institutional life. Major accessions include local Barzakhiyya declarations, the ABSP in 2079, and Catholicism at the Esztergom Concord of 2082. Lutheran, Reformed, and evangelical critics reject ordination language, while some protestants cooperate with InterTꞐRic bodies on minority protection and human obligations without assenting to its theology.
Iran (at Isfahan)

The Iranian settlement is the circuit's grandest single inversion. Tehran stands lamplit in the band along the Alborz crest above the Caspian slow-zone margin; the state did what Iranian states have done across three millennia and moved to the plateau. Government sits at Isfahan—half the world, capital again as under the Safavids—while Tehran persists as the band's second metropolis after Cairo and Shiraz becomes the hem's poetry capital. The qanat, yakhchal, and windcatcher now travel the pattern-book trade as premium engineering; Iranian water-guilds consult from the Maghreb to the Tarim. A civilization that kept everything the regime would later require spends thirty years being asked politely for the manuals.

Iraq's geometry spared its heart: Baghdad and the twin shrine cities lie interior; Basra and the Shatt lie banned. Between them the band crosses the south, where the Ma'dan—Marsh Arabs in reed boats—occupy banned seaward reaches under de minimis tolerance, the two rivers' last human presence at the forbidden Gulf. Najaf and Karbala now receive the largest pilgrim flows in the Islamic world, their ziyara seasons swollen by thirty years of redirected longing from the closed Hejaz. The Jazira schemes north of Baghdad remain a reception epic whose mixed agronomy corps intermarry at rates the first generation did not predict and does not discuss.
Ireland
sovereignEurope · spared
Wholly subsumed by the two bands, Ireland was Spared: unpartitioned, unplugged, and never evacuated. Within a decade it hosted four million Little Boat arrivals from Britain, reversing three centuries of departure. Irish stands in the Broadcast Canon, and census returns rank island identity above band, national, and ethnic identity; native and Little-Boat descent increasingly dissolves in marriage registers. The Spared economy of pasture, turf, sail post, and university letterpress runs at what economists privately call contentment. This accommodation does not make descent determinative: British refugee communities include protestant convictions shaped by dispossession, while Irish and mixed households range across acceptance, non-consent, and positions neither label captures.
Israel
successorMiddle East · scattered
Total evacuation of the former territory left a provisional administration governing a dispersed people rather than a land. Seated under UCC mediation in a Mesopotamian reception enclave, it maintains registries, courts-in-exile, pilgrimage rotas, and salvage guilds working coastal cities by day-visit. Fourteen to fifteen million evacuated; absorption depends on the Mesopotamian boom economy. Jerusalem rotas, negotiated jointly with Palestinian liaison, have become unintended bilateral machinery.
Italy
sovereignEurope · mixed
Italy has no electric national core: only a lamplit lattice, evacuated coasts, and a large diaspora. State continuity persists in law while roughly forty Apennine and Po-margin administrations govern in fact, with the Bologna Directorate convening after thirty to thirty-four million displacements. City-by-city campanilismo organizes custody of Rome, Venice, Naples, and other lost civic worlds; Bolzano traditionalism and displaced-camp politics join non-legitimacy to title and precedence, but grief alone is not doctrine. Vigilist and other confraternities integrate camps through processions and carry Cherubic meliorism, so counterpositions often share the same rite. The result is local protestant custody, Catholic anti-ordination argument, adaptation, and accommodation without a single Italian settlement.
Japan (at Matsumoto)
sovereignAsia · mixed
A first-rank maritime civilization compressed into the central highlands, Japan preserved constitutional continuity at Matsumoto while a fourteen-million diaspora formed across Korea, Manchuria, Siberia, and North America. Matsumoto Continuity frames adaptation through Edo return and austerity, but state education, memorial practice, and publication of mortality and suicide statistics preserve a disciplined protestant judgment that accommodation is not consent. Marine and aerospace knowledge survive as theoretical continuity rather than a present restoration programme. The Shizuka-obi's band identity, diaspora lateralism, and elders' umibe-gaeri walks complicate the state frame; grief is not automatically doctrine, and ecological appreciation does not legitimate dispossession. Japan's posture remains deliberate ambiguity, not settled meliorism.

Java—largely subsumed and Spared entire—is the largest unplugged society on earth, with well above a hundred million people and no evacuation. Gamelan, wayang kulit, batik workshops, and the courts of Yogyakarta and Surakarta sustain a lamplit high culture that never depended on the grid and became the band's acknowledged senior civilization. The Indonesian state sits in electrified Borneo, across a Java Sea crossed only by thread-sail and courier. Census returns put island identity first, and many Javanese describe the former era as the loud time. This strong Spared accommodation is not unanimity: courtly, village, Islamic, and displaced constituencies retain distinct judgments about loss and legitimacy.
Jerusalem
institutionMiddle East · band
Jerusalem lies within the ban zone: the holiest city of three confessions permits no overnight habitation. Daylight rotas negotiated among the communities bring pilgrims in and out by dusk; Amman stages the trade as the Levant's zone-line metropolis. The 2035 supplement records total Levantine evacuation and the Jerusalem rotas as joint Israeli–Palestinian machinery born from shared loss.
Jiangnan band
band sectionAsia · band
The Chinese seaboard's salvage belt is the largest band section on earth by economic weight, organized by the Grand Canal—fresh water, permitted—running from the electrified interior down through the band toward the drowned coastal plain, the single thread along which the two Chinese publics meet. Canal towns run the rota-gate economy at imperial scale: lock-box custody, guild musters for day-descents into Shanghai and the delta cities—the greatest salvage field in existence, worked against roof-years reported with urgency since 2035—and grain-and-carp traffic the food directorates count in nine figures. Storytellers' halls and canal-boat opera flourish in oral, unlicensed, laterally travelling forms the interior cannot audit; band Chinese live at a distance from the state measured not in loyalty but in paperwork.
Jordan
sovereignMiddle East · whole cloth
Amman stands lamplit a few kilometres inside the slow line—the ban's doorstep—and has become the Levant's zone-line metropolis in all but geography: staging city of the Jerusalem rotas, custody capital of the lock-box trade, and seat of mixed tribunals administering three faiths' pilgrim law. The Hashemite administration discovered that custodianship of thresholds is a career for which its century of practice prepared it exactly. East of the city lies the Dead Sea file, governed by precautionary custom rather than strike adjudication—the geometry's most famous open question, jointly left unasked. Jordan very nearly qualifies as a whole-cloth people under the band typology.
Jubilee communions
institutionGlobal · band
The Jubilee communions are Methodist, Reformed, Anglican, Baptist, and related church networks strongest institutionally in the West African band and present across Anglophone and Germanic-remnant sections. They extend Sea Sabbath into Leviticus 25: Status Inversion, released debts, voided coastal fortunes, and restored land are read as a Jubilee humanity would not have enacted itself. Their instrumental meliorism is strongest among communities disadvantaged by the former economy. Congregations in the same church families, especially British and American coastal diasporas, instead preserve protestant theologies of coerced exile; denominational ancestry therefore predicts neither position.
Kazakhstan
sovereignAsia · interior
Kazakhstan rose rapidly into continental logistical hegemony: the largest landlocked country lies across every Sino-European rail alignment, with grain surplus, uranium, and indispensable neutrality after the Ferghana settlement. The Kashagan strike produced the Caspian Ruling and forged an unusually disciplined Clearance culture; the western littoral was evacuated while trunk corridors and grain shipments to the Middle Eastern deficit expanded. Output recovered around everything the continent now moves by land. Astana nevertheless avoids proclaiming formal meliorism or describing the Mandates as just. Its official register emphasizes acceptance of limits, custodial obligation, and continental stewardship, combining moral restraint with caution toward displaced protestant powers that retain technical and cultural weight.
Kenya
sovereignAfrica · mixed
Kenya's Indian Ocean littoral losses—Mombasa's old quarter now in the Verge, day-kept by guild rotas—form part of the Swahili coast's transformation into salvage-guild and day-pilgrimage landscape. The East African rail rehabilitation reaching inland from the abandoned coast toward the lakes is the trans-African spine's eastern feeder; coastal populations follow its alignment toward Lake Victoria's fisheries and aquaculture boom under Kampala's food-system directorate. Dhow lineages operating under de minimis tolerance from Spared islets constitute, with Pacific counterparts, residual human presence on the eastern seas. Kenya exemplifies the two-publics East African settlement: electrified interior receiving displaced coastal peoples while the band preserves stone-town rotas and coral architecture against the rain-years the Treaties cannot stop.
Konkan–Malabar corridor
band sectionAsia · band
The South Asian case demonstrates lateral identity's capacity to cross the era's hardest line: the zone line reconstituted as caste geography. The band's salvage and foraging economy drew disproportionately from communities the old order assigned the coast's stigmatized labour; thirty years on, guild prosperity, pattern-book prestige, and the kala pani revival's re-sacralization of the threshold have inverted stigma into corporate pride without precedent in the region's modern history. Band identity is not erasing caste but outranking it in census second rank among the between-born; mixed guild-marriages unthinkable to grandparents are the marriage rotation in its most socially radical form. Ṛta-vāda doctrine matured here, canonizing threshold-keepers as ṛta's border-wardens.
Korea

No point of the peninsula lies beyond the slow zone's reach from one sea or the other; both Korean states live entire under the regime—the only region where two industrialized rivals were unplugged together, wholesale, in a season. Both persist lamplit; the southern republic reorganized around provincial seats and hangul letterpress with a speed returns attribute to literacy the alphabet was designed five centuries ago to make universal. Peninsula printers work the medium their ancestors invented: Goryeo movable metal type now casting successor states' entire administration—the peninsula that taught the world the letterpress reprinting itself upon it. Of the northern state the Commission has fragments and aging defector testimony; it records ⊘ no data where predecessors might have speculated.
Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan was untouched in the March Ferghana War: Uzbek columns crossed into the Kyrgyz portion of the valley, and strikes destroyed only Uzbek command in Tashkent. The Kyrgyz president's formula — "we did not win; we were spared, and the difference is the whole lesson" — became proverbial across the continent. Water settlement continues under Kazakh chairmanship at Almaty.
Lebanon
scatteredMiddle East · scattered
Lebanon's geometry left nothing: mountain and Beqaa alike lie within the two belts, the coast and Mount Lebanon in the ban itself. The Lebanese answer completed two centuries of diaspora practice—a nation now constituted almost entirely of merchant communities in other peoples' bands, from the Guinea coast road to the Aleppo souq, linked by a courier commonwealth whose remittances flow not to a homeland but to an annual mountain rota under day-law. Lebanese sectarianism has measurably attenuated in the dispersal; the confessions could afford enmity when they shared a state, and cannot now that they share only each other.
Lens Register

The British Maritime Memory Acts (2050) establish the Lens Register, coast-name and maritime-knowledge instruction, displaced-constituency records, and the contested Selvage Civics readers — grade A in the 2071 counterfield table. The Acts preserve absent parliamentary constituencies as claims rather than promises of reoccupation; canal guilds and between-born Selvage communities dispute the state frame.
Libya
sovereignAfrica · mixed
Libya's settlement has moved centre of gravity decisively inland for the first time since the Garamantes. Cyrenaica's Jebel Akhdar band, thin and green above the banned Benghazi plain, and the Fezzan's electrified oasis interior complete a nation whose coastal urbanism lies voided. The Tunisian band hosts at its zone-line towns the settled remnant of Tripoli's and the Jefara's dispersal, linking Maghreb and Libyan fates along the Tell's inland tier. The pattern matches North Africa broadly: banned littoral, lamplit band, and electrified interior rump reorganized around oases, highlands, and salvage economies rather than ports and hydrocarbon export architecture now void with everyone else's seaborne trade.
Lingnan band
band sectionAsia · band
The Lingnan section above the drowned Pearl Delta presents the Chinese band's mercantile face: Cantonese, old in the arts of distance from the capital. Economy is salvage of the delta conurbation and mountain tea-and-porcelain trade re-routed to the Yunnan spine; culture is Cantonese opera, whose travelling companies—never grid-dependent, clan-financed—have become the section's press, court calendar, and diaspora post in one. Lateral affiliations run seaward by thread-sail toward Spared archipelagos along kinship lines the census records as the sea-road families, resumed. Congress minutes contain a datum the state's returns omit: the southern band corresponded with Trabzon. Huanpu current hand-copies circulate as unlicensed interpretation of Heaven, contested but stable in the band where licensing must travel by courier.
Lipovans (Vylkove)
band sectionEurope · band
The Lipovan Old Believers of Vylkove — displaced ten kilometres upstream in the Danube delta margins — are cited in World Selvage Congress minutes as the band's senior experts in priestless discipline and flight from the state. The 2061 circuit treats them as a parable of band governance, not a national polity.
M'zab pentapolis
institutionAfrica · interior
The five walled Ibadi towns of the Saharan gorge — Ghardaïa at their head — built nine centuries ago for austerity, water discipline, and distance from every coast. The 2061 circuit treats the pentapolis as a syllabus: Mozabite water law circulates in pattern-books; courier correspondence with Nizwa makes the two Ibadi interiors, in runner-press phrase, "the era's oldest new institution."
Madagascar

The Great Island closes the circuit as cartographic riddle: large enough to escape clemency, its interior highlands rise just beyond—or just within—the slow line's reach from the eastern coast. Antananarivo, which meridian arithmetic places within a few kilometres of the line's inner side, was answered not by surveyors but by the pulses, which treated the capital as inside. Merina highlands thus govern lamplit an island whose banned littorals were always thinly held and whose highland civilization—rice terraces, zebu wealth, famadihana's periodic communion with ancestral dead—required little adjustment beyond one the returns record with characteristic understatement: the turning of the bones proceeds; the bones have been joined since the Withdrawal by commemorated names of the coast's unburied.
Mali
sovereignAfrica · interior
Mali anchors the Niger artery where pinasse trains of Mopti and Segou bind the Gulf of Guinea band's back country to the interior spine at Bamako and downstream zone-line markets. On the river's great bend, Timbuktu's manuscript families now receive Archive Treaties' overland caravans—the one-copy rule reversing five centuries of smuggling libraries away from the city. As a Sahelian interior state, Mali has become the through-route of the continental economy the coast once fed: the projected trans-African rail spine from Addis to Ndjamena to Bamako is at survey-and-earthworks stage. Sahelian militant currents sit astride the alignment; the spine's construction decades will contest whether the interior's ascent can be made general.
Mekong section
band sectionAsia · band
Mainland Southeast Asia's settlement follows its rivers. The Mekong band—delta banned, middle river permitted—carries the era's densest new courier axis down from the Yunnan spine, its section identity precocious: the World Selvage Congress's Mekong delegation is seated as one section across four states' territory, to those states' recorded displeasure and practical acquiescence. The Nearer Shore school of Pure Land devotion resolved the closure of the far shore as skillful means: the Buddha-field to be realized is this shore, the between, and enforced immanence is the teaching. Guild crews recite nianfo on day-rotas into drowned cities, dedicating recitation to the coast's dead of every species. Selvage stitch, guild cant, and dusk discipline bind the section to the hem-wide band civilization.
Mexico
sovereignAmericas · interior
Mexico appears in UCC reporting only across the severed shortwave link at grade C or D. Cordillera Compact statements describe interior consolidation on a great scale alongside North America's Kansas City axis. Like other American thalassocracies, Mexico lost much of its maritime economy and coastal population to the bands, while recovery reorganized around interior rail, grain, and construction. Fragmentary later reporting supports cautious reference to a protestant constituency among displaced coastal communities, not a national classification or settled governmental doctrine. The same evidentiary limits that obscure Mexico's band institutions also prevent confident claims about the balance between non-consent, adaptation, and melior-leaning currents.

Morocco

Morocco divides between the Rifian band above the banned littoral and the electrified Saïss plain interior—a standard two-publics settlement now entangled in the Strait Fraternity. Across fourteen forbidden kilometres of Gibraltar, Spanish and Moroccan bands conduct more contact, trade, and marriage with each other than either conducts with its own interior at Valladolid or on the Saïss plain. Two populations whose pre-Mandate relation was a hard border and a drowned migrant's grave have become each other's nearest neighbours under de minimis sail and lamp-code. Folk exegesis of the Ahl al-A'rāf current is attested independently from the Moroccan Rif to the Java band; zuhd orders consolidated the Shāṭi'iyya shore order across Maghreb bands.

After Naypyidaw's 2032 parliamentary strike established that authorizing bodies answer for prohibited activity, Myanmar's chastened successor administration consolidated in the dry-zone interior around permitted Irrawaddy waters. Ministries remain wary of signatures mortal under the First Doctrine.
Netherlands
sovereignEurope · scattered
The ban took the polders, and the polders were the country, making the Dutch the era's European archetype of a scattered nation. Water engineers direct works from the Danube to Ugandan lake schemes, while a courier-linked language commonwealth persists wherever its engineers' congress last met. Dutch protestantism is cadastral and custodial: maps, deeds, hydraulic models, and water-board records preserve title and civic memory without promising military reversal. Its central argument is whether usefulness elsewhere can become belonging without becoming consent to lost home, and whether any future return could restore old title against a recovered wetland. Flemish band remnants along the Scheldt often adhere to this commonwealth over successor administrations, but the dispersed population remains varied.
New Thebaid
institutionEurasia · band
The New Thebaid is an Orthodox meliorist movement of the Pontic, Bulgarian, Crimean-remnant, and Athonite-dispersal bands. Its sketes and lavras treat electromagnetic silence as a gift of hesychia at civilizational scale, and its elders draw interior pilgrims despite Moscow's condemnations and the movement's schism-adjacent episcopal irregularity. The school is pedagogical rather than celebratory: imposed quiet is read through the ascetic disciplines the Fathers already commended. Orthodox protestant opponents, including displaced and diaspora circles, deny that useful stillness can legitimate coerced loss; Moscow, the dispersed Athonite lineages, and local band institutions therefore remain divided.
New Zealand
sovereignOceania · mixed
New Zealand is among the thinnest strands in the 2035 extra-continental record. The Working Group possesses only relayed traffic, via the Cordillera Compact, suggesting the population's consolidation into the central North Island plateau under severe compression. Oceania communicates barely at all compared with the Americas' shortwave circuits; everything concerning New Zealand is grade C or D and should not be load-bearing for planning. The broader Oceania picture includes intermittent Australian interior signals and hearsay of Pacific Spared-island navigation revivals carried by sail post. The assessment states bluntly that less is known about Oceania's present condition than the nineteenth century knew—a measure of humanity's divided world.
Niger
sovereignAfrica · interior
Niger is named among Sahelian interior states rising as through-routes of the continental rail world after coastal inversion. The 2061 assessment records the Niger artery's pinasse fleets binding coast roads to Bamako and Nigerian band markets; the 2035 Assessment groups Niger with Mali and Chad on the projected spine. No dedicated Niger study exists.
Niger and Sahel interface

North and east of the coast road, the band's hinterland is organized by the Niger, whose pinasse trains of Mopti and Segou bind the coast road's back country to the interior spine at Bamako and, downstream, to zone-line markets of the Nigerian band. On its great bend stands the era's most satisfying archival inversion: Timbuktu, whose manuscript families once smuggled libraries away from danger, now receives Archive Treaties' overland caravans—the one-copy rule bringing the world's duplicates to the desert's edge, manuscript trade's direction reversed after five hundred years. Band prosperity draws Sahelian labour south while interior schemes draw it north; pastoral corridors cross both flows. Sahelian interior states including Mali have become the trans-African rail spine's through-route.

Centre of gravity moved north and inland after Lagos evacuation—the hemisphere's largest coastal emptying after China's—completed without famine or epidemic. Working country is the Middle Belt and north: Abuja, Kaduna, Jos, Kano ascending as Sahelian entrepôt. Thirty-four to forty million displaced, absorbed on West African kinship pattern. Petro-state abolished from above; revenue now grain, tubers, cowpea, and internal market of two hundred million. Five hundred Canon tongues; linguistic federalism practiced before the stones fell.
Nile Compact

The Nile Compact governs Egyptian relocation up the river and Sudan's reception of the northern influx — the largest act of international hospitality the 2035 Panel records on the continent. The Compact is holding under strain; the Assessment recommends funding its arbitration commission at treaty priority, with Ethiopian goodwill and water arithmetic at stake.
Nineveh churches
institutionAfrica · band
The Nineveh churches are Pentecostal and white-garment lineages of the Gulf of Guinea band that read humanity through Jonah: warned, spared, and obligated by mercy. Their joyful providential meliorism is enacted in dawn shoreline processions on permitted water, the band's largest recurring public assembly. The Ìjọ Ètìkun Mímọ́, Church of the Holy Coast, joins intact Christian confession to an Olokun cosmology of the sea's closure as settlement of an unpaid debt, while the Chain of Mothers arbitrates boundary disputes. These churches are regional institutions, not doctrine of the Nigerian or Ghanaian governments and not a position entailed by Pentecostal identity.
Nordic Administrative Remnant
supranationalEurope · mixed
The Nordic Administrative Remnant governs from Östersund and Kiruna across the Swedish and Finnish electrified interiors while incorporating Norway's whole-cloth band condition. Grain, hydropower, and the northern rail connection give it continental weight; residual offensive formations were dissolved after Ferghana. Its defining internal relation is Europe's least frictional zone line: Swedish and Finnish administrations coexist with Norwegian valleys organized around bygd, seter, stave-church parish, and dugnad rather than treating them as a temporary residue. This practical accommodation is not an official declaration that the Mandates are just and does not erase coastal loss or local differences.
Norway
sovereignEurope · whole cloth
Fjords are sea, and fjords are everywhere: Norway's geometry left every valley within the regime—a whole-cloth nation whose state folded into the Nordic Administrative Remnant at Östersund and Kiruna while its people stayed put. Settlement was always dispersed, hardy, and largely below the signature threshold in upland forms. Civilization rediscovered the seter transhumant economy, stave-church parishes, and dugnad communal labour scaled into the band's most complete non-market economy. Census returns rank band identity low and bygd valley-community identity first; Norway has not adapted to the regime so much as remembered itself, the coastal-modern century now looking like interruption. Swedish and Finnish electrified interiors maintain with the Norwegian band Europe's least frictional zone-line relationship.
Oman
sovereignMiddle East · mixed
Oman entered the era pre-adapted. The closure of Muscat and the coast restored the ancient equilibrium the twentieth century overturned: the interior at Nizwa—Ibadi, oasis-fed by aflaj that never needed a pump, governed by a scholarly tradition that spent a millennium theorizing legitimate authority at a distance from the sea—is once again the country's centre. The Panel's observers report its restoration with a lack of triumph so complete it constitutes a style. Courier correspondence with the Mozabite pentapolis of the Algerian interior has made the two Ibadi interiors, in runner press phrase, the era's oldest new institution—two small, austere, self-governing traditions, a continent apart, comparing notes across the century that has suddenly made their expertise general.
Orphitism
institutionAmericas · scattered
Orphitism is the heterodox movement, strongest in the diminished United States, that venerates the Europa breach itself as humanity's Promethean contact with the divine. It treats Orpheus's descent as redemptive or sacred rather than merely preserving a judgment of non-consent. That distinction places it outside ordinary protestantism, outside meliorism, and outside stone-veneration: Orphites revere the trigger of catastrophe, not the Mandates or their enforcers. The movement emerged from the American search for a usable account of 2029–30 and remains the continent's singular contextualization current rather than a general American creed.

Parallel to Israel, the Palestinian Administration maintains apparatus for a parallel dispersion after total evacuation. Seated in the Hauran reception zone, it asserts undiminished claims to land the geometry does not adjudicate. Agronomic expertise developed for arid land now serves Jazira and Gezira schemes. In mixed Euphrates and Hauran belts adjoining Israeli reception districts, cooperation and friction run in unstable solution. Jerusalem daylight rotas operate through joint liaison committees.
Paraguay
sovereignAmericas · interior
Paraguay belongs to the Andean-Paraguayan-Bolivian interior bloc described in Cordillera Compact relays. Its ascent parallels that of landlocked powers across Afro-Eurasia: rail potential, food production, and distance from the ban zones gained weight after maritime civilization's abolition. The evidence is grade C or D, carried by shortwave without direct Working Group visitation, so the Commission treats official claims cautiously. Nothing in the record supports declaring Paraguay formally meliorist or nationally grateful. Like other advantaged interiors, its government uses restrained language of consequence, stewardship, and obligation, mindful that displaced protestant powers remain populous, skilled, prestigious, and potentially restorable if the Mandates lapse.

The Philippines reorganized as a federation of the Luzon and Mindanao highlands after coastal evacuation made it one of the most severely affected archipelagic states. Vast Spared and slow-zone populations retain only a notional relationship to Manila-successor authority, while a maritime treaty-port civilization is now hosted by interior highland peoples. Coastal families began moving inland ahead of government orders in the Grandmothers' Evacuation, measurably reducing enforcement-period losses. Later coastal and diaspora politics include a protestant constituency grounded in dispossession and non-consent, but Spared accommodation and highland interests complicate any national classification. Grief, survival, and doctrine remain distinct.

Poland enters the continental record chiefly as receiving interior during Europe's Status Inversion: the Pannonian and Polish plains host displaced western elites. InterTꞐRism and the Barzakhiyya juridical school have walked its length for twenty years. Interior oblast directives on conscription, census, and schooling arrive as diplomatic correspondence—courteously answered, complied with partially or ceremonially. The federation has not lost the Polosa but been demoted in local ranking to one affiliation among several; a Taganrog guild elder summarized why secession holds no appeal: the interior cannot visit. Coast Russian, Tatar- and Chuvash-inflected, is subtitled by interior broadcasters—a compliment the Polosa accepts.
Pontic section
band sectionEurasia · band
The Pontic section—the Yavaş Kuşak stretching Trabzon to Batumi and Sokhumi—is the World Selvage Congress's host section and the Identity Panel's clearest case of lateral identity crossing ethnic fracture. Turkish, Laz, Hemshin, Pontic Greek, Armenian, Georgian, and Abkhaz populations, after thirty years of shared electromagnetic regime, guild intermarriage, and day-rota salvage of emptied coastal cities, now share a working koine, burial brass, and census self-designation running across every old line. Elders at a mixed funeral above the Trabzon rota-gate offered a formula attributed to no one and everyone: the sea does not ask what we were. Old griefs persist in memory schools as curated heritage, no longer load-bearing.
Portugal

Portugal became Europe's first wholly pre-electric sovereign state, governing from Guarda with no electrified interior. Six million moved within the slow zone or across the Spanish border, three million remained near its inner edge, and the Spared Azores and Madeira anchor an Atlantic Thread Fleet. The sea nation's protestant literature makes dispossession and non-consent the total account; a rival current accepts the wound while treating continued lamplit national life as a good no restoration may cancel. Both speak through saudade and the Adamastor of os novos cantos, so grief itself settles neither judgment. Fátima's day-rotas, Lisbon archive salvage, and an intact state operating at courier speed make Portugal whole-cloth rather than simply scattered.
Promethean movement
institutionGlobal · scattered
The Promethean movement is the militant, theatrical, and restorationist current strongest in fallen naval and aerospace powers. Its literature of defiance, underground rocketry clubs, and demonologies of the absent enemy supplied later protestantism with a vocabulary of refusal and a horizon of reversal, crystallized intellectually in Marguerite Okafor-Lindqvist's 2041 essay The Enemy Who Will Not Appear. It is not the whole protestant field: mainstream non-assent is legal, curricular, ceremonial, diplomatic, nonmilitary, and compliant, while Promethean launches are predictably destroyed. France and the United States are major recruiting grounds, but the movement remains transnational and internally ranges from tragic literature to reckless engineering.
Russia
sovereignEurope · mixed
Moscow remains capital of the largest interior on earth, but losses of St. Petersburg, the Pacific, Arctic, Caspian, Black Sea, and Kaliningrad erased maritime and aerospace leverage. Homestead charters absorbed twenty-eight to thirty-four million coastal displaced people plus Asian migration, assembling a plural Siberian host-civilization. Naval, aerospace, scientific, and coastal-memory establishments preserve strong protestant assumptions and technical continuity, yet the federation has no single doctrine. The Polosa hosts InterTꞐRic and Barzakhiyya currents and treats some interior directives as diplomatic correspondence, while homestead communities often lean meliorist. Russia's reversed precedence and immense interior advantage thus produce an enduring institutional divide rather than national classification.
Saudi Arabia
sovereignMiddle East · mixed
Saudi Arabia relocated inland as its petroleum economy voided, preserving cohesion around custodial legitimacy under extraordinary strain. Mecca lies deep in the ban, Medina remains lamplit, and Ta'if became the staging city of the Long Ihram. A substantial Sunni custodial protestantism holds that necessity governs compliance but cannot make closure rightful; elite custody, displaced Gulf urban claims, and worker losses remain distinct. Barzakhiyya jurisprudence and InterTꞐRic authority enabled the Daylight Hajj, which King Turki II reluctantly accepted in 2077 before the first pilgrimage in 2078. Operational accommodation preserved custodial honor but did not make Saudi doctrine meliorist or settle the argument across the Hejaz.
Sea Sabbath
institutionGlobal · mixed
Sea Sabbath is an accommodative Christian current, especially among Lutheran, Reformed, Anglican, and other mainline communities, reading the enforced rest of the waters through Levitical Sabbath. By 2031–33 its language had entered Concordat environmental law, largely through German drafting, while Hungarian Reformed institutions made it part of reception-belt custody. The current recognizes ecological goods without requiring that coercive imposition be called just. It does not follow from Lutheran or Reformed denominational identity: northern displaced congregations divide between accommodation, accusation, and unresolved grief, and coastal protestant theology often rejects any inference from restored waters to rightful authority.
Selvage (English band)
band sectionEurope · band
The English band gave the Anglophone world the word Selvage after Britain's geometry left a thin Midlands Lens without an electrified interior. London emptied, the Little Boats carried millions toward Ireland, and canal civilization made the narrowboat house, hearse, library, and post. The band is not uniformly protestant. Lens institutions, universities-in-exile, and state-facing curricula preserve Britain's doctrine of non-consent and impermanent title; between-born canal and guild communities increasingly reject the claim that their entire way of life is deprivation awaiting reversal. County assizes and boat guilds hold both tendencies in one polity, whose dry irony conceals a substantive argument over whether adaptation can become belonging.

Mouride founding narrative—Amadou Bamba's exile by a sea-borne power, steadfastness upon the ocean, return—reads to the order as the era's typology written a century early. Galician confraternities, the Basque language revival, and Andalusian participation in the Strait Fraternity sustain distinct band politics and Cherubic or Stellamarist accommodation. Annual Tagus and Duero bargaining, zone-line markets, salvage guilds, and the reversed Camino keep the two publics joined without making either current national doctrine.
Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's breadth placed its centre within the ban's arithmetic, and clemency took the island whole: no evacuation, full regime, and the era's second-largest Spared society after Java. Kandy's torchlit sacred calendar continued, while the irregular Sīmā movement reads the encircling ban as consecrated boundary rather than siege; Theravada establishments do not uniformly share that accommodation. Small-sail traffic with the Tamil band, Trincomalee's Thread Fleet station, and outrigger fisheries sustain permitted maritime life. Census returns rank island identity first, and former ethnic division persists chiefly in memory schools. Spared survival and religious adaptation therefore support melior-leaning currents without establishing unanimous doctrine or erasing contrary grief.
Strait Fraternity
band sectionMediterranean · band
The Strait Fraternity joins the Andalusian and Rifian bands across Gibraltar by de minimis sail, lamp-code, and twinned zone-line markets. Spanish and Moroccan band populations now trade, marry, and correspond with each other more than with their interiors at Valladolid or on the Saïss plain. Informal joint institutions include a pilot school, lamp-code convention, and mixed orphans' fund. This lateral accommodation does not erase ideological variation: protestant memories of dispossession coexist with Cherubic, Stellamarist, and other melior-leaning currents across the two shores. Both interior governments call the arrangement folkloric; the Panel instead treats it as undelegated foreign relations, without assigning one doctrine to the Fraternity.
Sudan
sovereignAfrica · interior
Sudan's reception of the Egyptian relocation under the Nile Compact is, in the 2035 Panel's judgment, among the largest acts of international hospitality in recorded history. The Compact holds under strain — land, water, and arbitration at treaty priority. The Ethiopian state study treats Blue Nile politics as transformed by Egypt's hydraulic catastrophe.
Swahili sections
band sectionAfrica · band
A civilization whose very name is the Arabic plural of coast is banned from the coast. Stone towns—Kilwa, Lamu, Mombasa's old quarter—stand in the Verge, day-kept by guild rotas tending mosques and coral houses against rain-years; Zanzibar and Pemba, Spared, keep dhow yards, clove terraces, and a treaty station sampling the ocean's thread-mail. Swahili mainland population displaced up old caravan roads has carried the coast inland—taarab orchestras in Tabora, coral-mason guilds on lake shores, the language binding band, interior, and Spared isles into East Africa's least divided two-publics settlement. An Ujiji schoolmistress's formulation captures the lateral thesis: uswahili was never the land. It was the manners of the threshold.
Sweden
sovereignEurope · interior
Sweden belongs to the Nordic Administrative Remnant governing from Kiruna and Östersund, a population reduced by relocation to interior corridors of the Scandinavian shield yet retaining disproportionate continental significance as custodian of the northern rail link to Russian homestead territories and Europe's principal remaining hydropower surplus outside the Alps. By 2061 the Swedish interior remains electrified and grain-rich, maintaining with the Norwegian whole-cloth band the least frictional zone-line relationship in Europe—a fact both sides attribute, in identical dry returns, to centuries of cold-neighbour practice. Nordic kroner-in-kind circulate against barter and scrip. Following the Ferghana demonstration the Remnant dissolved residual offensive formations within ninety days, converting military capacity to disaster corps.
Switzerland
sovereignEurope · interior
Switzerland appears in the Italian state study as a destination for two and a half to four million emigrants from the Po margin and Apennine camps — engineers, physicians, and builders supplying the Concordat system. The published assessments contain no dedicated Swiss state profile beyond this reception role.
Syria
sovereignMiddle East · mixed
Damascus, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the record, lies banned within the Verge; its Umayyad Mosque keeps a day-rota second in fame only to Jerusalem's. Aleppo sits lamplit in the band, its covered souq—never grid-dependent—the Levantine capital of band commerce. The Syrian state reorganized on the Euphrates in Jazira reception country, producing a double nation: interior schemes and rail against Aleppine merchant houses, Alawite hill sections, and Armenian quarter-guilds conducting lateral trade. The Damascene dispersal spawned the Ghouta elegies, Arabic letters' second exodus canon after Egypt's.
Tajikistan
sovereignAsia · interior
Tajikistan is not profiled as a standing polity in the published UCC corpus. Central Asian reporting concentrates on the Ferghana War, Uzbekistan's post-strike civilian council, Kyrgyzstan's spared posture, and Kazakhstan's stabilizing role at Almaty; Tajikistan receives no dedicated study.
Tamil and Coromandel section
band sectionAsia · band
The southeastern Indian band is the circuit's great case of sacred logistics. Temple geography fell across the lines with the era's usual indifference: Chidambaram and shore shrines banned and day-visited; Thanjavur's Brihadisvara banned by sixty kilometres, festival entries conducted by mounted confraternities; Madurai lamplit inside the slow line, Meenakshi calendar proceeding by oil-lamp, its festivals now South Asia's densest pilgrim draw after Iraq's shrine cities. Economy runs through temple-linked craft towns, Palk-facing thread-trade with Spared Lanka, and bronze-casting workshops whose lost-wax pattern-books the whole hem buys. The section's self-description, adopted as this Part's Tamil epigraph: we were always the people who kept the thresholds of the gods; now the country has thresholds, and remembers whose work it is.
Tanzania
sovereignAfrica · mixed
Dar es Salaam and the Swahili coast's urban civilization joined Mombasa in becoming salvage-guild and day-pilgrimage landscape as the Indian Ocean littoral emptied. Tanzania's Spared islets—Zanzibar and Pemba—keep dhow yards, clove terraces, and treaty stations where the Commission samples thread-mail, anchoring East Africa's maritime revival on permitted margins. Mainland Swahili populations displaced up caravan roads carry taarab, coral-masonry, and coastal manners inland toward the lake states; the language binds band, interior, and isles into the continent's least divided two-publics settlement. Coastal populations follow the eastern rail feeder's alignment and Lake Victoria fisheries labour demand, absorbed at kinship-and-household rates where displacement distances are short and land tenure flexible.
Thailand (at Nakhon Ratchasima)
sovereignAsia · mixed
Interior Thailand consolidates around Mekong permitted waters as Bangkok wound down into the ban and the state relocated to Nakhon Ratchasima on the electrified Khorat plateau. The band between administers pilgrimage economies of the emptied riverine capital; dawn rotas to the Emerald Buddha are described as the kingdom visiting its own heart by daylight. Thailand participates in the Mekong section's precocious cross-border band identity seated as one delegation across four states' territory.
Tunisia
sovereignAfrica · mixed
The Tunisian settlement carries the region's bitterest etymology: the Sahel—the Arabic sāḥil, coast, the word the whole desert borrowed for its southern shore—lies banned. Kairouan, Islam's fourth holy city, stands a hard ride inside the ban; its Great Mosque is entered on mounted confraternities' feast rotas, the aghlabid basins dry, the city kept. The Tunisian band along the Tell's inland tier runs olive and salvage economy on the Maghreb pattern and hosts, at zone-line towns, the settled remnant of Tripoli's and the Jefara's dispersal. Marriage records show the Maghreb bands participating in the thirty-year rotation of the marriage pool away from adjacent interiors and along the band itself—the courier roads becoming kinship roads.
Turkey (at Kayseri)
sovereignMiddle East · mixed
Turkey subtracted four seas: Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Trabzon, and every littoral lie ban-zoned, Ankara is slow-zoned, and government moved to Kayseri in 2031. Thirty-three to thirty-eight million displaced people entered a plateau whose former peripheries became hosts. The Yavaş Kuşak conducts the day-visit economy of four coasts, with Istanbul the era's greatest salvage field and Pontic and Aegean guilds developing lateral loyalties. Public judgment joins grief for Istanbul, custody of title and archives, and renewed Anatolian belonging; none alone establishes assent. Konya's Mevlevi revival and Long Ihram discipline offer accommodative currents, while displaced coastal non-consent remains distinct from militancy or a national protestant declaration.
Uganda
sovereignAfrica · interior
Permitted Lake Victoria is the continent's protein engine under Kampala's UCC food-system directorate, rated the era's premier food success. Uganda suffered no native displacement and received 1.6–2.3 million people through kinship-household absorption; output rose on tilapia, Nile hydropower, coffee, and feeder construction. Fisher communities moved from national margin to centre, while elder-women's councils gained allocation roles cited as institutional innovation. Uganda enters settlement-unit negotiations with protein-power collateral but does not translate advantage into official meliorism. Its public language stresses stewardship, obligation, and recognition of consequences, avoiding any claim that the Mandates were just or that displaced protestant powers should be grateful.
Ukraine
sovereignEurope · mixed
Ukraine shares the Black Sea rim's band maturity with Bulgarian and Dobrujan sections; band-dwellers in the Polosa report polosnik identity at census second-rank rates highest on the hem. Russia's European withdrawal from Black Sea littorals in 2030–31 carried severe losses. Ukraine's condition in 2035 is interior rump plus the world's longest band civilization learning post-electric life.
United Continental Council
supranationalAfro-Eurasia · interior
The United Continental Council succeeded the UN for Afro-Eurasia, seated at Addis Ababa after the Geneva Terminal Session of 2030. Its Interdisciplinary Working Group on Post-Mandate Phenomena—later a Standing Commission—issues the Tewolde Reports, Special Continental Assessments, state studies, and thematic assessments under Dr. Amina Tewolde and successors. The UCC hosts one of five Continental Archives, coordinates Clearance Committee doctrine after Bremerhaven, and maintains shortwave links to the Cordillera Compact at Cusco. Member governments receive graded intelligence on enforcement regularities, displacement, food systems, and the Signature Century's hierarchical transformation. The 2035 assessment's moral instruction stands unchanged: whatever the Mandates are, they are not justice, and protection of the displaced remains entirely human work.
United Kingdom (at Birmingham)
sovereignEurope · whole cloth
Great Britain survives in a thin lamplit Midlands Lens, with Birmingham governing by gaslight and letterpress after London and the coastal conurbations emptied. Perhaps four million people crossed to Ireland in the Little Boats, while the English band gave the Anglophone world the word Selvage. The state and Lens schools preserve the era's clearest legal and curricular protestantism: compliance is obligatory but does not confer consent, and no human title to the prohibited domains is conceded. This dry, institutional mainstream differs from Promethean violence. Boat guilds, universities-in-exile, and revived county assizes sustain continuity, while between-born canal and guild society rejects treating its civilization as a provisional injury; Irish-hosted and mixed descendants add further variation.
United States of America (at Kansas City)
sovereignAmericas · mixed
The republic reorganized around Kansas City after the coastal evacuation of 130–160 million people, with Chicago a de facto second capital and the grain-surplus interior the Cordillera's granary. No national contextualization prevails. Coastal districts retain congressional representation without habitable territory, the Denver Archive preserves claims and records, and surviving naval, aerospace, and ocean-science institutions sustain a strong protestant field. Secular constitutional non-assent and evangelical refusal coexist with Promethean fringes. Agrarian heartlands include Jubilee meliorism, while Orphitism venerates the breach and belongs to neither pole. Evidence outside relayed institutions remains grade C/D, so regional plurality should not be mistaken for federal doctrine.
Uzbekistan
sovereignAsia · interior
Nine months after the Ferghana War's decapitation strike destroyed Tashkent's military command, Uzbekistan is governed by a civilian emergency council of provincial administrators and water engineers whose conduct the 2035 Panel rates sober beyond expectation. Water settlement proceeds at Almaty under Kazakh chairmanship with UCC observers.
Vietnam (at Phú Thọ)
sovereignAsia · whole cloth
Vietnam's long thin geometry left the entire nation within the regime—Hanoi at the ban's edge wound down, deltas banned, the whole remaining country lamplit. The state withdrew to Phú Thọ midlands, reorganizing on the đình communal house, paddy calendars, and permitted inland waters as roads. Water puppetry became the national medium; travelling troupes perform the ships leaving annually in silence. Band and national identity fused entirely.
World Selvage Congress
supranationalAfro-Eurasia · band
The World Selvage Congress was constituted in 2057 at Trabzon, where delegates from forty-one slow-zone sections met without reference to the states whose atlases still claim them—adjourning at sundown because the ban-zone venue permitted no overnight habitation. The Congress is real, chartered, guild-assessed, seated by section not state, and bound by a charter renouncing territorial claim, armed force, and any petition to the sky. Its writ covers standards—weights, lamp-codes, courier law, guild reciprocity—and voluntary arbitration. Eleven member states have granted band observer seats since 2057; two criminalized affiliation, which functioned as recruiting. By 2061 the Commission expects a second congress to seat delegations whose governments never announced they existed.
Yemen
sovereignMiddle East · mixed
Yemen's highlands hold the peninsula's largest continuously functioning pre-electric agriculture; Sana'a stands lamplit at the band's inner edge. Coastal losses were absorbed into an interior that had never fully joined the coastal century. Socotra, Spared, keeps its own tongue—which stands in the Canon—and its dragon's-blood economy at the Thread Fleets' Indian Ocean crossroads. Together with Oman, Yemen forms the region's counterweight: polities pre-adapted to austerity, oasis discipline, and distance from the sea. The southern Arabian settlement contrasts sharply with the Gulf's complete urban reversal, where descendants of the world's most air-conditioned society dispersed to Najd, the Hejaz band, and Fertile Crescent reception belts in the era's most complete littoral emptying.
Zagreb Country
regionalEurope · band
Zagreb Country is a territorially Croatian slow-zone commonwealth of roughly 880,000—not a separatist state but a polity whose material civilization, political time, and loyalties differ from electric Croatia at Osijek. County institutions govern food, water, roads, schools, and courts; daily exchange runs laterally to Slovenian, Hungarian, Bosnian, and Italian lattice band communities. Constitutional settlement of 2041 created dual tables of People and Places; Osijek Articles of 2048 recognized autonomy without resolving federal vocabulary. The city survives as lamplit centre amid converted metropolitan ruins; surrounding municipalities produce staple food and supply the County Watch. Kajkavian rises as civic vernacular; the between-born resent being called deprived. By 2054 co-sovereignty deepens toward separate Selvage congress representation.
Zambia
sovereignAfrica · interior
Zambia appears in the South African state study only within the southern African customs and rail relations — Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Eswatini — and the Copperbelt corridors moving minerals north and east to the rail world. No dedicated Zambian state study exists in the published corpus.
